Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz, right, and other state and Plainville officials honor more than 70 surviving veterans of World War II at a ceremony held July 17 at the Plainville Senior Citizens Center. Telling the crowd about her military experiences during WW II is veteran Wanda Janowski, left. Bysiewicz and state Rep. Elizabeth Boukus, who handed out the public service citations from the state, said the time was right to honor the veterans who were part of what was called the "greatest generation."
