Webpage workshop for middle school students

Middle school students can have the opportunity to make their own webpage at a program at the Plainville Public Library. The children's department of the library is sponsoring a three-week program entitled Complete Beginner's Introduction to Web Design. The class will be held on Wednesdays, July 16, 23 and 30, at 6:30 p.m.

During the opening reception May 2 for the annual Plainville students art exhibition, Tim Little, a senior at Plainville High School, stands next to his poster, “Feast your eyes on a good book,” that he created on a computer. His poster is one of more than 100 works created by Plainville students in grades kindergarten through 12th. The exhibit will be at the Plainville Public Library, 56 E. Main St., throughout May.

Wheeler Storybook Character Parade

Wheeler Elementary School parade students, dressed as their favorite storybook characters, parade down the hall on their way to an assembly held Friday, April 11 in the school gym. There they sang, answered trivia questions and admired all their friends' costumes. Deadline nearing for some scholarships

Plainville students are encouraged to apply for various scholarships being offered by area organizations. However, deadline is nearing for some of the scholarships.

Talented and gifted students may see program reinstated

The Board of Education is seeking to resurrect the talented and gifted program that was eliminated in 1991. School board members said they will put in a request for a talented and gifted program coordinator in the upcoming 2008-09 schools budget.
