Southington police charged a Plainville man after he was involved in a crash Tuesday night in the center of Plantsville. The intersection of West Main, South Main and Main streets was closed for four hours, reopening shortly after midnight.

State Sen. Sam S.F. Caligiuri announced he has formed the Three Strikes Now Coalition, a not-for-profit, non-partisan grass roots organization dedicated to the enactment of a "three strikes and you're out" law in Connecticut. The coalition's Web site is www.threestrikesnow.com.

After the storm, comes the calm... Lightning and rain did little to deter the avid supporters of Plainville Relay For Life 2008, an event that supports American Cancer Society education and research, held this weekend in Norton Park. Luminaria candlelit bags, honoring those who have survived or died from cancer, are being sold to raise funds for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Plainville, a 24-hour walk to benefit the American Cancer Society.

People who take the Friends of the Plainville Library April 26 bus trip will be among the first visitors this season to the Emily Dickinson Museum in Amherst, Mass. The museum, which opened March 1, celebrates the life of the renowned poet Emily Dickinson and her family.
